I’ve been searching through my archives recently, and found this. Taken whilst on a shoot in 1986. It’s in a disused Welsh coalmine, the name of which I cannot remember. As it was being maintained and ventilated by a skeleton staff, it was still safe for us to be taken down into the mine in the traditional lift. If you ever think you’ve had a quick descent in an aircraft, it’s nothing compared to this. Hats off to the miners who made the descent everyday – they were brave in many senses.
